The Cookbook Idea
The majority of my childhood memories took place in the kitchen of our little white house in Riverview, Michigan, and most especially around the large, rectangular, formica, kitchen table.
The family that started with two people who loved each other so deeply, that it quickly grew to ten family members in less than fifteen years time.
The friends and neighbors that always felt so comfortable in the crowded space, that they would squeeze in at the dinner table or spend the night with one of us and climb into one of the two bedrooms that were already overflowing with children and puppies.
The food was continuously being prepared and shared even when it seemed like there wouldn’t be enough to go around, but somehow there always was.
And of course the stories, the laughter, the tears, the moments of excitement and sadness. They all seemed to be shared around that large, formica table…the kitchen table.
Because there seemed to be a miracle that happened in that little white house, I have always felt that the stories, photographs and the most favorite of Mom’s recipes should have a place to be remembered and shared with the still growing family that started with those two people who loved each other so deeply.
My dream is to create this website, and then a cookbook that will be the beginning of our family’s tradition to pass down the stories of how we all began in the little white house and the meals that we shared that have become such an important part of our memories and our past.
