Sheila’s Spaghetti Sauce
Ingredients:
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 large onion minced
2 T minced garlic
salt and pepper
1 large can tomato sauce (29 oz)
2 medium cans tomato paste (14 oz)
6 cans water (I use the tomato paste can)
1 large can crushed tomatoes (29 oz)
1 pound mild Italian sausage (optional – Alana uses)
2 T basil
2 T parsley
2 T oregano
Directions:
Brown ground beef on top of the stove with the onion till done.
I also rinse it to remove grease. If you are using the sausage, cut into 1 inch pieces and brown on top of the stove till done.
Add meat and the rest of the ingredients to a large crock pot.
Add 3 cans of water for each of the cans of paste. Stir mixture occasionally while cooking. Cook on low in the crock pot all day… 6 or more hours. If you like your sauce thinner add more water… You can simmer on top of the stove all day as well. Serve with your favorite pasta.
